RASHTRIYA GOKUL MISSION

Activities

  1. Nationwide Artificial Insemination programme providing free bovine Artificial Insemination in the districts of Chennai, Cuddalore, Kancheepuram, Nagapattinam, Pudukkottai, Ramanathapuram, Salem, Sivagangai, The Nilgiris, Thiruvallur, Tiruvannamalai, Villupuram, and Virudhunagar at the Farmers’ doorstep with semen from High Genetic Merit Bulls as per the Breeding policy of the state through the units of Department of Animal Husbandry and the Societies of Tamil Nadu Cooperative Milk Producers’ Federation Limited.
  2. Strengthening of semen production stations of the Department of Animal Husbandry and the Societies of Tamil Nadu Cooperative Milk Producers’ Federation Limited to produce quality semen doses for Artificial insemination.
  1. Strengthening of semen distribution units of the Department of Animal Husbandry and the Societies of Tamil Nadu Cooperative Milk Producers’ Federation to preserve and deliver quality semen doses at the Artificial Insemination Centers.
  2. Strengthening of Artificial insemination centers for the delivery of quality bovine Artificial insemination services
  3. Facilitating the organisation of awareness programmes, farmers training programmes, calf rallies, fertility camps by the Department of Animal Husbandry, The Tamil Nadu Veterinary and Animal Sciences University and the Dairy Cooperative Societies of Tamil Nadu Cooperative Milk Producers’ Federation.
  4. Facilitating production and supply of gender sorted bovine semen doses to increase heifer calf production. Implemented in the Districts of Coimbatore Erode, Kanyakumari, Krishnagiri, Madurai, Namakkal, Perambalur, Ranipet, Thanjavur, The Nilgiris, Thiruchirapalli, Tirunelveli, Thirupathur, Thoothukudi and Vellore. The farmers’ are charged Rs.175/- for the first Artificial Insemination with gender sorted semen and in case of animals not conceiving on first AI the second AI would be charged at Rs.150/- The probability of the birth of female calf (Heifer calf) is more than 85 %.
